Themes in Conceptual Film

Like Snoop Dogg once said:”When I'm not longer rapping, I want to open up an ice cream parlor and call myself Scoop Dogg.”  I want to incorporate dreams and fantasy for my theme in Digital portfolio this year.  That seems the most interesting to me because of the possibilities for wacky scenarios.   The surreal is very interesting because it is only limited by your imagination.  There are a lot of things I could do with dreams and fantasy images.  Last year , my unofficial theme was dinosaurs, I could keep it going this year, because anything can happen in a dream. Such as a Tyrannosaurus Rex husband cooking eggs for his Tyrannosaurus Rex wife, or a Brontosaurus flying a spacecraft through the mountains of an as of yet unknown planet.  The scenery in particular would be fun to work with and to look at.   I could go nuts with whatever I wanted for this theme, because dreams rarely make sense.  In fact, the definition of fantasy is: the faculty or activity of imagining things, especially things that are impossible or improbable.

But I didn’t choose topic this because it looked like it would be the easiest, or because I could incorporate dinosaurs, but because of the wide array of possibilities that go along with imagination and dreams.  Literally anything could happen in a dream. I have had some crazy dreams, and an animation of one of them would probably be the only way to make someone else care about a dream you had last night.  It could be like old music videos for progressive rock bands in the 1970s, very trippy and weird.  I don’t want the work I make in this class look similar to anyone else’s in the class, I want my work to be unique, that is why I chose to do Dreams and
Fantasy Images.
